Spring Showcase

The Spring Semester of 2008 ushered in a new tradition for the NYU Latin & Ballroom Dance Club family - The First Annual Spring Showcase!

The Spring Showcase is both a social and a showcase that is held annually in the Spring semester. The Showcase offers a great opportunity for Club members (and non-members) to showcase their talents and creativity within the realm of latin/ballroom dancing. We encourage, but do not require, the incorporation of other forms of dance as well. For instance, a cha-cha routine incorporating aspects of hip-hop or jazz dancing; a waltz with elements of lyrical or ballet; a foxtrot with a some classic tap reminiscent of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

The Spring Showcase presents an amazing aspect of dancing that is often neglected in the social dancing world - performance. The Showcase is an opportunity for Club members to not only learn the basic elements of a choreographed routine by participating in our ensemble number, but to use what they have learned all year to create their own dances and become choreographers themselves!

Performances must be between 1:30 - 3:00 minutes, should be based in latin/ballroom partner dancing and must be approved of by the E-Board and Club Instructor prior to the showcase. The Preliminary showing date will be announced during the Spring Semester and is open to all members of the Club, Team and NYU community. The Club Ensemble number is open to all Club members regardless of level.

The First Annual Showcase was a great success and we hope to surpass it this coming spring. So, come one and come all - show us what you got!
